How to Replace a DVD Drive in a Thinkpad Z60m Ultrabay
The Lenovo ThinkPad Z60m notebook computer is compatible with any CD or DVD drive designed for Lenovo’s standard Ultrabay Enhanced Drive Bay. If the optical drive in your ThinkPad Z60m has stopped working or you simply want to upgrade the original combo drive with a DVD burner, several options are available for your computer. To simplify the process of replacing the optical drive, Lenovo designed the Ultrabay Enhanced drive bay to require no tools.
Instructions

Shut the ThinkPad Z60m down through the operating system, and then close the screen.
IBM DVD drive

Turn the ThinkPad Z60m over. Push the two plastic tabs near the battery toward the unlocked padlock icons, and then remove the battery from the back of the computer.
MSI DVD drive

Turn the ThinkPad Z60m so that the screen faces up, and the optical drive faces toward you.

Push the tab in the lower-right corner of the optical drive tray to the right to disengage the internal locking mechanism and extend the release tab.

Pull the release tab toward you to remove the original optical drive from the Ultrabay Enhanced drive bay.

Slide the replacement optical drive into the Ultrabay Enhanced drive bay until the drive tray lines up with the side of the ThinkPad Z60m.

Push the release tab in to lock the replacement optical drive in the bay.
